Mr Magee pictured at the 2016 Residents Christmas Lunch

Wednesday 18th October 2017 drew a grey cloud over Woodbrook Village, as we laid to rest one of our own. John Magee a recent purchaser at Woodbrook Village passed away on Monday 16th October. He was a lovely, gentle, quiet man who will always be remembered fondly by the team who built his home at Woodbrook Village. Mr Magee, originally from Enniskillen had moved from there to Strabane and 19 years ago came back to Omagh where he lived his final years. Mr Magee worked in the insurance industry but as a hobby he was very interested in bee keeping & was known as a Master Bee Keeper. In one year alone he was said to have had 40,000 bees and produced a tonne of honey that year! After an emotional funeral mass on a cold and dry October morning, myself and some colleagues stood outside the chapel as Mr Magee was to make his final journey. I noticed in the corner of my eye a bee above my head. I thought 'What a strange time of year for bees', but never thought anymore of it. Until later when Mrs Magee mentioned that it is said when a bee keeper dies that bees will always appear. The bees were very present that day and gave Mr Magee the guard of honour he deserved. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and he will always be remembered by us at Woodbrook Village.
